I here wish to discuss some example aspects relating particularly to South African public school Curriculum that clearly point out the need for Christians to foster and use a dedicated Christian Curriculum. Yes, any spiritually candid eye can see that South African governance is still void of the Christian faith. It is therefore no wonder that they are found endorsing materials that contradict Christian ethics.
- A Grade 4 ‘Via Africa’ Life Skills textbook has illustrated religious symbols on its front cover – portrayed as they would to denote innocent and optional cultural differences. This same book actually goes on to present the same religions within its ‘religions’ lesson as attributes that should be embraced as simply markers of diversity. While I believe our kids do need to come to learn about the presence of these false religions, the presentation should always, and that clearly, maintain their falsehood. Unfortunately, only a Christian developed lesson can best ensure this structuring.
- One Grade 5 Platinum textbook published by Maskew Miller, within its lesson aimed at improving has concept or esteem, recommends that kids practice honesty. Arguing that dishonesty can negatively impact self-esteem. Just to consider how that which is a biblically sinful is reduced to a measure that can be optionally adopted for personal advancement.
- On English Grade 5 textbook contains one story, amongst several other shameful one, that remarks on how a little girl is taken kite flying by his grandfather on Sundays. Here, just observing how the Lord’s day thus looses its significance.
- A Grade 5 Natural Science & Technology textbook is also found going to great length in it presentation of an earth that is millions of years old.
